Crosthwaite campsite is in a wonderful location nestling against a backdrop of Lakeland peaks. It is a family and youth orientated campsite run by volunteers using farmers’ fields to accommodate campers and caravanners for the three weeks of the Keswick Convention.
Our aim is to provide safe, economical camping and caravanning accommodation for those attending the Convention.
The campsite is located a fifteen minute walk from the main children and youth site at Rawnsley and a further fifteen minutes walk through the town to the main convention site at Skiddaw Street.
The convention provides a transfer bus from the campsite to both Rawnlsey and the Skiddaw Street sites that runs for 45 minutes before and after the main morning and evening programme.
The tea and coffee as we set up was so much appreciated and we loved the evening hot chocolate time, it was a highlight of every day. We also loved meeting and chatting with our neighbours and feel we have made new friends.
Most people camp, about 20% bring caravans and there are a few motorhomes. There is limited access for motorhomes, due to restrictions placed by DEFRA.
You need to bring your own tent, caravan or motorhome, the campsite operates on a self catering basis.
Portable toilets with basic washing facilities are provided on site as are portable showers. In addition single sex communal shower facilities are available at designated times in the nearby school.
We really appreciate all you do to develop a sense of fellowship and community on the site – there is something very special about Crosthwaite!
There are no dishwashing or laundry facilities on site. No electrical hook-ups are provided. Your dog must be kept on a lead at all times.
Join us for a blend of fellowship, fun, a weekly picnic together. Enjoy a walk up a nearby fell or perhaps a coffee in one of the many coffee shops in and around Keswick.
Don’t forget you can keep up to date on our Facebook page.
