Welcome to Crosthwaite Campsite, Keswick
Update on Crosthwaite Camp 2021
Message from Camp Committee
We are pleased to confirm that we will be having a Crosthwaite Camp this year and we are working closely with the Keswick Convention staff to provide one that will be as COVID-19 secure as we can make it. As we are unsure what restrictions might still be in place by the end of July, especially relating to social distancing, and given that decisions about camp have to be taken now, we are planning as if they were in place.
We have therefore taken the decision to reduce the overall size of the camp, and we will only use Field 1 (where the marquee is located). This will reduce the number of campers each week from about 400 to 200 maximum, with 45 rather than 95 pitches. In order to ensure a mixed camp we will restrict the combined number of caravans and motorhomes to about half the pitches. Unfortunately, we will be unable to offer youth or church group bookings this year.
To help with social distancing, the school showers will not be used, only the 4 trailer showers. This is the normal arrangement for Week 1 of camp and with the lower numbers it works well. We plan to provide toilets that enable some social distancing.
There will also be changes to the use of the marquee as we will not be using it for evening worship or our traditional hot chocolate, nor will the marquee will be available for socialising. The phone charging facility will not be available, and whilst we will provide ice pack freezing facility, this is likely to be drop off/collection only.
There will be a change to our usual booking system this year and if you have previously camped with us, or registered and interest this year, you will shortly receive an email from the booking secretary explaining how this will work.
We strongly advise that you check the Keswick Convention website for the changes that Keswick Ministries are putting in place before you book. Specifically, Keswick 4 Kids has been replaced with a Families Together morning slot for children under the age of 11 and their families.
We hope that you understand the need for above changes and will support us in implementing these changes so that the camp can take place.
